Drátovna Mountain Resort
A place hidden in the forest. A space that has its own rhythm.
In the heart of the Jeseníky landscape, away from the hustle and bustle of cities and recreational centers, an exceptional place is being created for a peaceful stay in nature. The area of the former wire factory near Filipovice is surrounded by deep forests, meadows and a picturesque stream that naturally frames the area. It is a place where you don't just stop for a weekend. It is a place where you want to return.
The project sensitively follows the original character of the area and connects it with contemporary architecture. The historic building remains preserved and, after careful reconstruction, becomes the natural center of the entire area. Five new mountain cottages with apartments and two more intimate apartment buildings partially embedded in the terrain are freely added to it. This is not an ordinary recreational resort, but a relaxed settlement in the landscape - quiet, natural and respectful of the place in which it is created.

Where the road ends, peace begins
The wire factory is located in a secluded forest, in the landscape of the Jeseníky Mountains, which has retained its raw charm. The surrounding nature is not just a backdrop, but the main value of the entire project. The surrounding landscape offers a rare combination of peace, pure nature and proximity to the mountains, which encourage relaxation and a slower rhythm.
The individual buildings are freely distributed and oriented along the sloping land in such a way as to respect the terrain, existing greenery and natural views of the landscape as much as possible. Each location retains enough privacy, distance and its own atmosphere. The development does not create a closed complex, but naturally blends into the forest environment.
The story of the old wire factory continues
The original building remains preserved as a memory of the place and its most striking dominant feature. The reconstruction respects its character, proportions and original expression, and at the same time gives it new life. The old is not erased here, but supplemented. The past becomes part of the present.
The new buildings follow this idea with the simple, archetypal form of mountain chalets with gable roofs. Their architecture does not shout at the landscape, but rather works with it. Glass gables open the interiors towards the forest and bring in light, weather changes and seasons. Each apartment thus offers direct contact with the surroundings without losing a sense of security or privacy.
Architecture made from natural materials
The material solution is based on the character of the place. Stone, wood, natural surfaces, vegetation roofs and wooden shingles create a harmonious whole that will naturally age with the landscape. An important part of the design is also the use of old and recycled materials — not only as a reference to the area's past, but also as a conscious approach to sustainability and authenticity. The result is architecture that does not seem new at any cost. On the contrary. It has the ambition to be timeless, calm and rooted in the place.
